Life is full of decisions.
Some are small and barely register in the grand scheme of things. What to make for dinner. Which road to take home. Whether to hit snooze one more time.
And then there are the choices that carry a little more weight.
The ones that keep us awake at night.
The ones that ask us to leave behind something familiar in exchange for something uncertain.
The ones that require courage.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how often growth asks us to do hard things.
Not because we’re ready.
Not because we’re fearless.
But because staying where we are no longer feels right.
Sometimes it’s taking a new job.
Sometimes it’s ending a chapter we’ve outgrown.
Sometimes it’s choosing to trust ourselves when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
And sometimes it’s deciding where we want to call home.
For many people, buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions they’ll ever make. On the surface, it looks like a real estate transaction. But underneath, it’s often so much more than that.
It’s choosing a new beginning.
It’s deciding that the life you’ve imagined is worth pursuing.
It’s believing that even though the process may feel overwhelming, the future waiting on the other side is worth the uncertainty.
I think that’s why home has always felt deeply personal to me.
Because a home isn’t just a structure. It’s a reflection of the choices we’ve made and the life we’re building.
Every home tells a story.
A young couple taking a leap of faith into homeownership.
A growing family needing more room to stretch and breathe.
Someone downsizing after the kids have grown.
A person starting over after life didn’t go according to plan.
Each story begins with a choice.
And choices can be scary.
The truth is, most meaningful things in life are.
The relationships worth investing in.
The dreams worth chasing.
The goals worth pursuing.
They all ask something of us.
Time.
Effort.
Faith.
Courage.
Living here on the Kenai Peninsula, we’re surrounded by reminders that growth isn’t always comfortable. The long winters. The muddy breakups. The changing seasons that never seem to arrive all at once.
Nature doesn’t skip the difficult parts to get to the beautiful ones.
Neither do we.
Maybe that’s the lesson.
That courage isn’t the absence of fear.
It’s choosing to move forward anyway.
One conversation.
One step.
One decision at a time.
And often, when we look back, the choices that once felt the hardest become the very ones that shaped our lives in the most meaningful ways.
Because sometimes the life we’re hoping for is waiting on the other side of a difficult decision.
